- Muhammad Ali Jinnaha was a barrister, politician and the founder of Pakistan. Jinnah served as the leader of the All-India Muslim League from 1913 until the inception of Pakistan on 14 August 1947, and then as the Dominion of Pakistan's first governor-general until his death. He is revered in Pakistan as the Quaid-i-Azam ("Great Leader") and Baba-i-Qaum ("Father of the Nation"). His birthday is observed as a national holiday in Pakistan.

Born in Karachi, the second child in the family, he had three brothers and three sisters in total. In Karachi, Jinnah attended a madrasah and a Christian mission school. Business partner of Jinnah's father, offered to send the boy to study in London as an apprentice at his company. Jinnah agreed despite his mother's protests.
Returning to Karachi, Jinnah then moved to Bombay and opened a law practice at the age of 20. He gained great fame as a lawyer and earned respect among professionals. In December 1904, Jinnah began his political career by attending the 20th annual meeting of the Indian National Congress. Jinnah was also appointed to the committee that helped establish the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. In the early 1920s, Jinnah devoted most of his time to practicing law, but continued to take part in political life. In October 1934, Jinnah was elected as representative in the Central Legislative Assembly. Over the next two years, Jinnah worked to strengthen the authority of the League, and rebuilt the internal structure of the League along the lines of the Indian National Congress.
