- Made much more news with her private life when she filed assault charges against Susan Hayward after she and the star went at it claw to claw in the bedroom of her former fiance, Don 'Red' Barry. Jil got the worst of it, but under pressure from Hayward's studio, she reluctantly dropped the charges.

- Discovered in the early 1950's by producer Norman MacDonnell while both were eating lunch in a Los Angeles drug store across from Columbia Studios. MacDonnell was casting for several radio shows, including Suspense and Gunsmoke, and when Jarmyn asked for the salt and pepper, he introduced himself and said he liked her voice. He invited her to go back to the studio and audition, which she did that day, after which MacDonnell hired her.
