Biography

Jaguar was born on February 29, 1932 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was an actor, known for Todas as Mulheres do Mundo (1966), Girl of Ipanema (1967) and Tanga (Deu no New York Times?) (1987). He died on August 24, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He began drawing for the magazine Manchete in 1952 and went on to contribute to Senhor, Última Hora and other influential outlets.

He was also a founder of the "Banda de Ipanema" and authored books reflecting on his life and the vibrant cultural scene of Rio de Janeiro.

He also wrote the graphic poetry collection "Átila, Você é Bárbaro" (1968), which became an instant critical success for its ironic take on prejudice and violence.

He was a co-founder of the satirical weekly "O Pasquim", launched in 1969 until its final edition in 1991 and celebrated for its irreverent criticism of Brazil's military regime.
