In 1959 appeared the last cooperation between Jacoby and Rökk in the cinemas - "Die Nacht vor der Premiere". Marika Rökk told later: "We flog the success craze to dead".

Jacoby was born in Mainz, Germany, the son of comic playwright Wilhelm Jacoby.

Georg Jacoby got a working prohibition after the war.

He soon proved to be a versatile talent. He directed both comedies and moral movies and sex education films - a genre which was very popular at this time - as well as monumental movies.

He was only able to make new films in 1950.

He wasn't exclusively fixed on musicals but also shot crime comedies like "Gestatten, mein Name ist Cox" (1955) and military burlesques like "Zu Befehl, Frau Feldwebel" (1956).

In the 30's he found his real passion - the musicals.

In 1923 he gave Marlene Dietrich her film debut, casting her in a small role in The Little Napoleon (1923).

In1923 he shot the movie "Quo Vadis?" with actor Emil Jannings in the part of Nero. But the movie was torn to pieces by the critics.

Before Georg Jacoby became a director he worked for a short time as an actor and made his debut in 1913 in "Buckelhannes".

He shot "Die Czardasfürstin" (1933) and "Der letzte Walzer" (1934), than he worked together with Marika Rökk for the first time for the movie "Heisses Blut" (1936). They got married in 1940 and from now on they belonged to the most successful pairs which also owed their successes to the great music of the composers Peter Kreuder and Franz Grothe.

The actress Gabriele Jacoby was his daughter.

His involvement with large-budget Italian epic Quo Vadis (1924), which was a critical and commercial disaster, damaged his reputation.

The most successful film of Jacoby became "Die Frau meiner Träume" (1944). The audience thronged so vehement into the cinema palace that some of the people caught injuries daily.

In 1941 he directed the first Agfacolor film Women Are Better Diplomats.

Encouraged by Rosa Porten, the sister of actress Henny Porten, he wrote first scripts and took over the direction.
