- Monty Python-member Terry Jones is one of his friends (they got to know each other after Jacobsen started importing Monty Python-movies to Norway).
- Made Commander of the Order of St.Olav by the King of Norway in 2008 for his work on behalf of the Norwegian Film Industry.
- Awarded an Honorary Aamot Award by the Norwegian Film and Cinema Association 1988.
- Awarded on Honorary Golden Film Reel by the Norwegian Cinema Managers Association in 1998.
- Awarded lifetime Achievment Award by CIFEJ - Centre International de Film Pour l'Enfance et la Jeunesse in 2002.
