- John M. Jacobsen was born on December 27, 1944 in Oslo, Norway. He is a producer and director, known for Max Manus: Man of War (2008), Troll Hunter (2010) and Børning (2014).
- The first Norwegian to produce a Hollywood-production: 1996's "Head Above Water" with Cameron Diaz and Harvey Keitel.
- Is regarded as the most successful producer in Norwegian film history.
- Monty Python-member Terry Jones is one of his friends (they got to know each other after Jacobsen started importing Monty Python-movies to Norway).
- Made Commander of the Order of St.Olav by the King of Norway in 2008 for his work on behalf of the Norwegian Film Industry.
- Awarded an Honorary Aamot Award by the Norwegian Film and Cinema Association 1988.
