Biography

Noboru Ishiguro was born on August 24, 1938 in Tokyo, Japan. He was a director, known for Hoshi Neko Fullhouse (1989), Megazone 23 (1985) and Macross: Do You Remember Love? (1984). He died on March 20, 2012 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan.

In his youth, he was part of a Hawaiian style music band. This gave him valuable musical experience on how to read musical and to get the best use of music for scenes.

I love destruction! I may have been the one who started the trend of lavish destruction in anime.

I always loved science fiction ever since high school and I always wanted to work on a science fiction anime.

Yamato drastically changed my thoughts on what could be done with animation. Before Yamato, it had been said that SF titles would not catch on, and I believed it. But Yamato overcame such thinking in a positive way and changed my mind. It made me confident, and for this reason, Yamato is a very memorable work. At the same time, I learned the severe side of making animation. But it will always be a good memory.
