Luther Ingram was born on 30 November 1937 in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. He was a composer, known for Now and Then (1995), Hustle & Flow (2005) and Mr. 3000 (2004). He was married to Jacqueline. He died on 19 March 2007 in Belleville, Illinois, USA.

His R&amp;B chart-topping classic &quot;(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don&#39;t Want to
Be Right&quot; reached to #1 on Billboard magazine&#39;s R&amp;B chart and #3 on the
Pop Singles chart in 1972.

He co-wrote the <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm1879185/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">The Staple Singers</a> hit &quot;Respect Yourself&quot;.

Survived by his wife, sons, Luther, Jr. (Eric), and Kenneth, and a sister , and five brothers.
