Lithe, leggy India looks more like a fashion model than a porn star, but her spectacularly tight body - she was trained as a dancer - has been seen in adult films since 1996. She began as a stripper in Los Angeles, making the rounds of the various clubs, and was noticed by several adult-film producers. Her dark, exotic look served her well over the next five years, and she became a fixture in black-themed porn. She has also done mainstream work, appearing in several music videos for such artists as Madonna and Ja Rule. Lately she has taken to working part-time at Nevada's Moonlight Bunny Ranch, a legal brothel, and has cut down on the number of appearances in adult films.

In 2008 adult film star India decided to leave the adult film industry for good. Since the age of 10, Shamika "Mika" Brown--her real name--had always dreamed about doing music. In 1994 she got her break. She started a girl singing group, Harmony Innocent, with some high-school friends. They practiced every day after school, weekends and every free moment they had. After becoming local favorites, the group met producer Lorenzo Pryor, who had worked with many R&B heavyweights. He took on the girls and polished their craft and after a lot of hard work they got a record contract from Quality Records. They release the single, "That's What I Like," which quickly climbed to the top 100 Billboard Charts. India was balancing her freshman year in college when the group started to fall apart, and it broke up two years later. India entered the adult-film business in 1997 and became one of the top black performers in the industry. Complex Magazine rated India the #3 among black porn stars of all time. She was a contract girl for the porn company Video Team and has done much work for some of the top companies in the business. such as Vivid, VCA and Metro, among others. She was featured in many of the best-selling porn titles, such as Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle (2001), Hustlaz: Diary of a Pimp (2002), Lil Jon's American Sex (2004), among others. In 2007 India was nominated by AVN (Adult Video News) for best supporting actress in Afrodite Superstar (2007).

India is working on a variety of ventures, such as a memoir that is due to be released in the summer of 2012 titled "Infamous". She also developed and hosts a popular radio show called "The Dollhouse" that is broadcast live every Tuesday and Saturday night on blogtalk radio. India released a sexy erotic novel titled "Seductive Company" in 2011. The ex-adult film actress is now focused on her radio show, books, music, acting and more.

Used to have a body-piercing ring on her lip in 1998 but when the ring caused her lose a lot parts in films she decided to get rid of it sometime between late 1999 and mid 2000.

For the past two or more years, she has been working in a famous brothel, known as 'The Moonlight Bunny Ranch' in Nevada. She still makes adult-films but finds working at the brothel more profitable and safer. Thus, instead of starring in an average of 30 films a year she only stars in 6 to 8 a year.
