Biography

Gillian Hutshing, ACE, is an accomplished film editor with over 65 titles to her credit. Her projects encompass feature films, documentaries, and television and streaming content for award-winning directors, including Sir Ridley Scott and Ben Affleck. She recently worked with director Nicol Paone on THE KILL ROOM, a comedy thriller featuring Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Joe Manganiello, and Maya Hawke. Other notable feature credits include BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT with Ridley Scott, THE TOWN for Ben Affleck, and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS: DIRECTOR'S CUT for producer David Geffen and director Frank Oz. Her film with director Perry King, THE DIVIDE, earned 23 festival awards, including eight for Best Feature Film.

Gillian began her career in the film industry as an apprentice editor on a John Cassavetes short film, which marked her first on-screen credit. Four years later, she joined the Motion Picture Editors Guild through her work on the Gene Wilder comedy HAUNTED HONEYMOON. Ms. Hutshing quickly ascended from apprentice editor to lead editor, gaining a reputation in Hollywood as a film "doctor" known for revitalizing troubled projects into award-winning films. Passionate about her career, she also enjoys mentoring emerging filmmakers and film enthusiasts. In 2022, she became a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE), an honorary society recognizing excellence in film editing. Members are voted in based on their professional achievements, dedication to educating others, and commitment to the art and craft of editing.

In addition to her work in film, Ms. Hutshing utilized her understanding of children's stories to write and illustrate a children's book titled Sparky the Wonderfish: A Story of How Love Creates Magic, voted the #1 Children's Book by Amazon. She has been featured as an author at various events, including Book Expo America, the West Hollywood Book Fair, the Orange County Children's Book Festival, and the LA Times Festival of Books. Furthermore, she serves on the Advisory Board and holds the position of Booksellers Chairman for the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society.

Raised in La Jolla, California, Ms. Hutshing majored in English and Communications at the University of California, Davis, and currently resides in Los Angeles.
