Biography

Frank Hurley was born on October 15, 1885 in Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was a director and cinematographer, known for The Hound of the Deep (1926), Jungle Woman (1926) and The Official Film of the Mawson Antarctic Expedition (1949). He was married to Antoinette Rosalind Leighton. He died on January 16, 1962 in Collaroy Plateau, New South Wales, Australia.

Australian photographer and adventurer. He participated in a number of expeditions to Antarctica and served as an official photographer with Australian forces during both world wars. He was the official photographer for the Australasian Antarctic Expedition and the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-16.
