Born of Scottish parents who were visiting in Nashville. He immigrated to the land of his birth around 1899, eventually buying a large farm in Brookfield, Massachusetts.
Had played the detective in the play "The Bat" 1285 times before illness forced him to miss his curtain call. He passed away six days later following surgery.
