Biography

Chris Hunt is a director, producer, writer and executive producer of music and arts films and TV programs and movies of major stage events. Films he has produced, directed or executive produced have resulted in 2 Primetime Emmys out of 4 nominations, 2 International Emmys out of 3 nominations, 7 Bafta nominations and over 40 other nominations and awards.

He began his career at BBC Television, where he directed The Antiques Roadshow and produced and/or directed several other series. In 1985 he moved to direct and produce The South Bank Show where inter alia his programmes contributed to 2 Bafta nominations, his biography of Eric Clapton was nominated for an International Emmy and his 'King Lear' programme won both Best Arts Program and the Grand Award for Best Factual Program in any category at the New York Festivals. He then set up the independent production company Iambic Productions, which he ran from 1988 to 2000 when he sold it to the super-indie he was setting up, later to be known as DCD Media plc. During this time he produced and directed the highest-ever rated arts programme of all time on British television, the Abba Story (Bafta-nominated), and won most of his awards. He continued as CEO of Iambic and of DCD Media until 2008 when he left to direct a film of King Lear with Ian McKellen (nominated for a Primetime Emmy) and set up the streaming platform Classical TV . He then founded two production companies - Stanza Media to make music and arts documentaries, and Stagescreen Ltd to make films of theatre shows - and still runs both. His programs still win awards - his most recent won Gold at the New York Festivals and Platinum at Worldfest.
