- Franz Hummel was born on January 2, 1939 in Altmannstein, Germany. He was a composer and actor, known for Kreutzer (1977), Der Eheberater (1986) and Komplizinnen (1987). He was married to Susan Oswell. He died on August 20, 2022 in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany.

- After 2001 he began work on a follow-up piece to Ludwig II, about Richard Wagner; this was planned to be premiered in 2009, in Dresden.
- In the late 1990s, songwriter Stephan Barbarino brought Hummel on board to compose the music for a staged production about the life and death of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.
- He was a German composer and pianist. In Munich and Salzburg, he studied both composition and piano.
- He became a virtuoso pianist and travelled across Europe performing, and making 60 recordings of much of the standard repertoire of classical, romantic and contemporary piano music befor.
- Hummel began composing at the age of six, and at 15, he had memorized all of Beethoven's piano concertos.
