Went to boarding school.

In 1985, Merseyside band Half Man Half Biscuit's debut album "Back in the D.H.S.S." included a song called "I Hate Nerys Hughes - From The Heart", which just consisted of the title being screamed over and over again. It was tongue in cheek (I think!).

Married Patrick Turley, a television cameraman who she met when he was filming her being murdered in the series The Expert (1968). Son Ben born 1973, daughter Marie Clare born 1979.

Has a sister who's 4 years older.

Was at the RSC in 1964.

She started as the 1st fairy in A Midsummer Nights Dream for the R.S.C.
