Douglas E. Hughes

Doug has been working as an actor, playwright and voice artist for over 45 years. He spent thirteen seasons as a company member at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, and another three seasons at the Stratford Festival. He has worked in theatres across Canada and in the U.S., as well as in film, TV and radio. With his writing partner, Marcia Kash, Doug has written seven plays to date, the first six of which have all been published by Concord Entertainment. Collectively, they have had over 300 productions in sixteen countries around the world, and have been translated into ten languages. They recently finished their seventh effort, "Succour", a psychological thriller about identity theft. Doug has also penned two novels of his own, the comedy/thriller "The Poor Player" and its sequel, "The Shaming of the True." He’s also written a number of screenplays, the most recent of which is the comedy/ thriller "Star Struck." He and Marcia have also adapted their fourth play, the comedy "Jack of Diamonds", into a screenplay.
