When he started attending high school, he joined the school's music club and was responsible for the vocal part.

Horiuchi has written pieces for various shows and commercials on Japanese television such as the long-running crime drama "Hagure Keiji Junjou-ha".

Takao Horiuchi is the youngest of three siblings and used to sing since he was little. When his grandmother listened to him she would say "Takao, your voice is beautiful and you sing very well! One day you will become a famous singer".

In elementary school, Takao used to stay in his sister's room listening to a radio that played western music. Once, listening to a song by The Beatles , he felt as if something amazing had occurred to him. His older brother borrowed several Beatles records from friends and took them home, a fact that greatly influenced his taste in music.
