Biography

Dublin born actor Stephen Hogan trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Afterwards, he achieved leading roles across several stages including performances at the Royal National Theatre in London and the prestigious Abbey and Gate Theatres in Dublin. Hogan began his screen career in 1993 and since that time has accumulated numerous leading credits both in film and television.

The last two years have seen Hogan appear in critically acclaimed productions including "Ridley Road" (BBC & PBS masterpiece), playing George Lincoln Rockwell, real life leader of the American Nazi Party in the 1960s, the dark family comedy "The Dry" RTE/Britbox) directed by Paddy Breathnach, "Vikings: Valhalla" (MGM), and "Harry Wild", opposite Jane Seymour (Accorn TV/RTE).

2021 also saw the release of the award winning and hugely popular big budget Indian feature "Sardar Udham" (Amazon Prime) directed by Shoojit Sircar with Hogan playing the leading role of Detective Inspector John Swain opposite Vicky Koushal in the title role.

In 2017 Hogan was seen in several high-profile big screen productions including Transformers: The Last Knight (Paramount), "The Foreigner" (STX) opposite Jacki Chan and Pierce Brosnan helmed by veteran Bond director Marton Campbell, "The Young Karl Marx" (Agat Films) written and directed by Oscar winner Raul Peck and the critically acclaimed Irish movie, "Handsome Devil" (Treasure Entertainment & Netflix) written and directed by John Butler.

While often cast as Irish, Hogan has played numerous American roles including the lead in cult B-Movie sci-fi satire "Starship Troopers - Marauder" (Sony Pictures), in which he also sang the theme song, "It's a Good Day to Die!", "Jarhead 3: The Siege" (Universal) as American Ambassador Dan Cahill, "The Sweeter Side of Life" (Hallmark), "Harley and the Davidsons" (Discovery), "Show dogs" (Global Road), as President Joseph Reed in "Benedict Arnold" (A&E) opposite Kelsey Grammar and "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" (Sony Pictures), directed by Stacie Passon and adapted from Shirley Jackson's 1962 novel.

His many British character roles include MI5 agent Eleric Henderson opposite Stephen Dillane in the A&E 10-part 2021 spy thriller, Red Election, Sir Henry Norris in "The Tudors" (Showtime), General William Lowe in "Trial of the Century" (Amazon Prime), Sir Henry Merchant in "Primeval" (ITV & BBC America), "Some Mother's Son" opposite Helen Mirren and "The Line of Beauty" (BBC).

Qualified as an architect at the University of Edinburgh.

Has also done radio performances.
