Geoff Hoff was born in Tokyo, Japan, grew up in Flatbrookville, New Jersey (a town that no longer exists) until he was 13, then Spokane, Washington until he graduated from college. He moved to Los Angeles when he was 23 and has lived there ever since.

He graduated from Fort Wright College in Spokane in 1978 with a BFA in theater (the school no longer exists).

He was one of the writers and performers for the award-winning, episodic stage show "Tony Mack's Swingin; LA" which played in Micheli's Basement Cabaret for over a year, and ended up directing the last few episodes. He taught an acting workshop called "Passion for Acting" in Los Angeles for six years.

His father, Rowell Hoff, lives in China and is a published poet. His poems are compiled in the book "The Roads Home". He has two brothers and one sister.

With writing partner Steve Mancini, Geoff wrote the satirical book "Weeping Willow: Welcome to River Bend", which came out in 2005 and was called a "uniquely funny book" by Writer's Digest Magazine.
