Toshio Hirata was born on 16 February 1938 in Tendo, Yamagata, Japan. He was a director, known for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Jetter Mars (1977) and Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl (1989). He died on 25 August 2014 in Japan.
