- TriviaOn November 22, 1963, secret service agent Clint Hill was riding on the running board of the follow car in Dallas during President John F. Kennedy's motorcade through the city. At the moment he heard the first shot, he leaped off the follow car and ran toward the presidential limousine. Moments before he reached the vehicle, President Kennedy was hit in the head with the third and fatal shot. Mr. Hill pushed the first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, into the back seat and covered both her and the President until the motorcade arrived at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He received a citation for exceptional bravery on December 3rd of that year, with Mrs. Kennedy in attendance. In 1975, Hill would reflect tearfully, saying that if he had reached the vehicle a second earlier, he would have been able to take the third shot to his own body.
