I "Grew up" in Boulder Colorado. First got the bug of film-making watching Woody Allen film "Sleeper" at my father’s work place, NCAR, at 12 years old. Worked as a still photo assistant for 10 years with many world class photographers in Los Angeles. Graduated AFI as a cinematography fellow in 88. Moved to New Mexico in 1996 after doing "Infinity" there a few years before. Member of Governors Council NM for film and media, 8 years. Southern Arizona Production Association Chair, 2 years. Turned down "Rust" after explaining to the 12 reducers that they had no chance of completing their project with their lack of experience and respect for the process. Halyna was a very talented cinematographer on the rise, I wish I could have talked her out of it. Disgusted by the top heavy, unprofessional evolution of the craft, brutalization of the crews, greed and overall lack of leadership led to early retirement. I am happy that I was on the last wave of the industry before it became corporate. Old Hollywood is dead. Though l was looking forward to teaching new technicians, I wouldn’t want to encourage working with less crew for an unnecessary abundance of reducers. Now retired and expanding my mind by exploring the world. Grateful for all of the opportunities that life has given me. Looking forward to the adventures with friends that lie ahead!
