Biography

Robert Bernard Hershorn was born on February 27, 1932 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was an actor and producer, known for Take It All (1963) and Fabienne sans son Jules (1964). He died in 1972 in Hong Kong.

The son of a major clothing manufacturer (the firm Hyde Park Clothes), Robert Hershorn stood out in Quebec's cultural community when he founded and edited the magazine Exchange in 1961, which published texts by Anglophone and Francophone writers.

Robert Hershorn was best friends with Leonard Cohen. Deeply affected by the tragic death of his friend, Leonard Cohen wrote in his memory one of the most dramatic songs in his Death Of A Ladies' Man repertoire.
