Was working as a saree designer. He was brought into films in 1951 by fight master Douglas and Azeembhai. He worked as a duplicate for Kamran Khan and Nasir Khan. He met Guru Dutt on the sets of Kagaz Ke Phool. Guru Dutt wanted to launch him as a hero in a film based on the story of a well built fisherman. It was Johnny Walker who recommended him. But Dutt expired and the film was never made. Sultan Dosaani decided to launch him in Zalim Jaddugar. Hercules went from getting paid rupees 25 to rupees 450 as a leading man . It was Dosaani who named him "Hercules". After flopping as a stunt hero he began taking roles as villain henchman.
