Biography

Irén Henrik was born on June 11, 1937 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a cinematographer, known for The Treasure of Swamp Castle (1985), Johnny Corncob (1973) and The Little Fox (1981). He was married to Attila Dargay. He died on June 30, 2026 in Budapest, Hungary.

With her professional experience, she has also recently helped Hungarian animation: she participated as a consultant in the production of the full-length animated film Csongor and Tünde , based on the original character designs of Attila Dargay, which was released in 2025.

She was best known for her cinematography work in the 1977 animated film Mattie the Goose-boy, which was directed by her husband Attila Dargay.

Henrik Irén, was a Béla Balázs Award-winning animation cinematographer, and a defining figure in Hungarian cartoons.

Irén Henrik began her career in 1956 at the Pannónia Film Studio, where she initially worked as an illustrator. She later worked as a production manager, assistant cinematographer, and from 1963 as a cinematographer.

She participated in the production of numerous commercials, cartoon series and feature-length animated films, and also photographed episodes of the Gusztáv and Peti series.
