- Silent screen western actor/director/writer, in films with Universal from 1916. A genuine western character (stage driver, cowpoke and U.S. marshal), he was apparently a cousin of cowboy star William S. Hart. He remained a busy supporting player until his death in 1949/.

- The Best Actor Award at the Staten Island Summer of Shorts International Film Festival is named in honor of Neal Hart, 'Neal Hart Best Actor Award' presented annually at the film festival in Staten Island, New York. The film festival is held at the Dutch Reformed Church. The festival was founded by actor and film director Vinnie Langdon III.
