- Survivor of the 1912 sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic.

- She was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1974 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to the community.
- Has a pub named after her in Chadwell Heath, near where she grew up.
- She and her mother, Eva Hart, survived in Lifeboat 14 during the Titanic's sinking.
- She moved to Australia in 1929 to pursue a singing career after her mother's death.
