Biography

William Harrison was born on October 29, 1933 in Dallas, Texas, USA. He was a writer and actor, known for Rollerball (1975), Rollerball (2002) and Welcome to Paradox (1998). He was married to Merlee Portman. He died on October 22, 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA.

Harrison was an English professor, teaching a class in screen-writing, at the University of Arkansas when he wrote both Rollerball (1975) and Mountains of the Moon (1990).

1955 graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth

He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1973, and taught at the University of Arkansas until he retired in 1998.

He wrote nine novels and dozens of short stories. Many of his stories are set in Africa, where he traveled extensively.

Talking to one of his writing classes about the director of Rollerball (circa 1989): "He did everything to my script except use it."
