- Falk Harnack was born on March 2, 1913 in Stuttgart, Germany. He was a director and writer, known for The Plot to Assassinate Hitler (1955), The Axe of Wandsbek (1951) and Ein Frauenarzt klagt an (1964). He was married to Käthe Braun. He died on September 3, 1991 in Berlin, Germany.

- One of a family of academics, scientists and artists who formed an integral part of the anti-Nazi resistance in Germany. In 1943, he deserted from a penal battalion in Greece and fought with the Greek People's Liberation Army (ELAS), later co-founding and leading the Anti-Fascist Committee for a Free Germany.
- Worked as artistic director for the East German film company Defa from 1949 to 1952. Between 1962 and 1965, he was the leading director for the newly established TV station ZDF. His films often dealt with the national socialist era and the war.
