Biography

Mary Cleere Haran was born on May 13, 1952 in San Francisco, California, USA. She was an actress and writer, known for 100 Centre Street (2001), Great Performances (1971) and When We Were Young...: Growing Up on the Silver Screen (1989). She was married to Joe Gilford. She died on February 5, 2011 in Deerfield Beach, Florida, USA.

She was the second of eight children to an Irish Catholic family. Her father was a professor of theater and film at San Francisco City College in San Francisco, California.

She was a champion Irish step dancer.

She is survived by her son, Jacob Gilford; six siblings, Terence Haran; Bronwyn Haran Harris; Brigid Haran; Ned Haran; Tim Haran; and Eithne Haran Bullick; an uncle, Ed McCarthy; an aunt Patty Lautze; several nieces and nephews; and her stepmother Loyce Haran.
