Biography

Monika Hansen was born on April 9, 1942. She was an actress, known for Es ist ein Elch entsprungen (2005), I Love You, I Kill You (1971) and Killer Condom (1996). She was married to Otto Sander and Rolf Becker. She died on June 26, 2025 in Berlin, Germany.

Daughter of Claire Schlichting and Erik Hansen (aka Buchardt), half-sister of Jonny Buchardt, sister-in-law of Barbara Schöne and Blanka Schlichting née Jakob, mother of Meret Becker and Ben Becker, mother-in-law of Alexander Hacke and Anne Seidel.

Trained for acting at the Otto-Falckenberg Academy in Munich.

She has appeared in films by Margarethe von Trotta, Rosa von Praunheim, and Wim Wenders, as well as in various television productions. She co-starred with her children Meret and Ben Becker and her husband Otto Sander in Rosa von Praunheim's film The Einstein of Sex (1999).

After her first permanent engagement at the Theater Ulm, she then worked for ten years at the Theater Bremen under the direction of Kurt Hübner, whom she followed to the Freie Volksbühne Berlin in 1973.
