He was married to Patricia King and helped raise her eight children.

Funeral services were held at noon on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at the Karina Nichols residence, Black River Falls. Burial, with military honors, was in Decorah Cemetery, rural Black River Falls.

Following his high school graduation, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Navy for four years. Following his discharge from the Navy, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and he served in the Marines for four years.

Following his discharge from the Marine Corps he Settled in California and became employed as a movie and television actor. He starred with actors John Wayne, Chuck Connors, James Arness, Jay Silverheels and Robert Conrad to name a few.

For the last several years of his life he was employed by the Ho-Chunk Nation Language and Culture Program.

Returned to Wisconsin and lived at Granton and Black River Falls, before settling in rural Mauston.

Was a member of the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129.
