Biography

Benjamin B. Hampton was born on March 9, 1875 in Macomb, Illinois, USA. He was a producer and director, known for Golden Dreams (1922), Heart's Haven (1922) and The Mysterious Rider (1921). He was married to Claire Adams and Maria Somers Bartleson. He died on January 31, 1932 in New York City, New York, USA.

For many years an executive at the Amerian Tobacco Co., he left that business to try his hand at producing films, with the idea of buying up several independent production companies and merging them into one giant film production conglomerate, to compete with the "big" studios. It didn't work out.

Formed Benjamin B. Hampton Productions, a film production company, in 1922.
