Biography

Joe Haldeman was born on June 9, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. He is a writer, known for Robot Jox (1989), Seasons and The Twilight Zone (1985). He has been married to Mary Gay Potter since 1965.

Grew up mostly in Anchorage, Alaska and Bethesda, Maryland.

Two of his novels ("The Forever War" and "Forever Peace") and one novella ("The Hemingway Hoax") have each won both the Hugo and Nebula awards.

Lives parts of the year in Key West, Florida. This location has appeared in several of his works of fiction, with various characters and plot points occurring therein.

Took a BS in physics & astronomy before a tour as a combat engineer in Vietnam (1967-69). Severely wounded (earning a Purple Heart) he returned home, taking an MFA in 1975.
