- From 1955 to 1958, she was one of the busiest film actresses. She was sometimes hired for half a dozen films in a single year. She played leading roles and mostly comic supporting roles.
- Carla Hagen was a German stage, film and television actress.
- After studying acting with Eduard Marks at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg from 1950 to 1952, the daughter of a merchant family initially worked at the literary cabaret "Die Globetrotters".
- Hagen last lived in a retirement home in Hamburg-Wellingsbüttel, near her niece's family. Unnoticed by the public, the actress died there at the age of 93 after a tragic accident.
- When she met her husband, the director Hans Lietzau (1913-1991), from then on, apart from a few television appearances, she played almost exclusively stage roles, often with her husband as director.
