John Guillermin was born on November 11, 1925 in London, England, UK. He was a director and writer, known for The Towering Inferno (1974), Death on the Nile (1978) and King Kong (1976). He was married to Mary Guillermin and Maureen Connell. He died on September 27, 2015 in Topanga Canyon, California, USA.

[on Steve McQueen] Steve had a terrific instinct for something he could play well. In the films where he played characters that he really understood, he did it extremely well on screen. It wasn't an accident that he was a major, major star. He also had tremendous power and charisma. He could capture the truth of a scene.

[1990 comment on King Kong (1976)] The film simply isn't allowed to speak for itself. I was not displeased with the overall picture. It was totally different from the original, which is now considered a classic. That was an enormous thing to overcome in itself.
