Biography

Philip Guard was born on November 29, 1928 in Rochford, Essex, England, UK. He was an actor and writer, known for The Angel Who Pawned Her Harp (1954), BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950) and Robin Hood (1953). He was married to Charlotte Mitchell. He died in May 2024.

He appeared, unwittingly, along with Mark Dignam and John Bryning on the fade-out of The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus", from the 1967 Album 'Magical Mystery Tour. John Lennon happened upon a BBC radio broadcast of "King Lear", (in which Philip Guard played "Edgar"), whilst recording the song and included the short excerpt.
