Biography

Jan Groth was born on January 15, 1921 in Bielsko-Biala, Slaskie, Poland. He was an actor, known for Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), Anwalt Abel (1988) and Es muß nicht immer Kaviar sein (1977). He died on July 17, 1993 in Germany.

Groth moved to Germany in 1967 and settled in Grünwald. In the following years, he concentrated on his work for film and television.

Jan Groth was a Polish actor who attended the state drama school in Krakow and Gdansk in 1945.

After graduating from high school, he was drafted into military service.

In the 1945/46 season, he was already a member of the ensemble at the Polish State Theater in Breslau.

In 1957 he went to Austria and played at the Landestheater Klagenfurt in 1958/59. In 1960 he moved to Vienna and initially worked for basement stages. From 1961 to 1967 he appeared at the Theater an der Wien (in the musical 'Heimweh nach St. Pauli', alongside Freddy Quinn), at the Raimund Theater (in Lady Windermere's Fan) and at the Burgtheater (in Camus' Caligula and Anouilh's Becket or the Honor of God).
