(1947-53) Stage: Appeared in "The Lost Colony" at the Waterside Theater, Manteo, NC. Written by Paul Green. NOTE This was the longest-running historical outdoor play in the US. Starting out as a cast member, he was eventually offered the role of Sir Walter Raleigh, a role that he accepted and played for five years.

(2008) Appeared in an Internet viral video reprising his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor during the 2008 Presidential Election, encouraging voters to vote for Barack Obama, alongside Henry Winkler and Ron Howard. NOTE: The video and a TV ad that ran at the same time had to be pulled from circulation because of a torrent of death threats Griffith received from opponents of the candidate and the legislation.
