Biography

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was raised by his grandparents and attended Wellington College. Moved to Sydney at age sixteen with his grandmother. Worked in a garage then a battery factory. Joined the New Theatre in the late 1930s and appeared in several plays by his wife Oriel Gray. Used a pseudonym in Melbourne during the 1950s, Eric Grayson, to avoid being blacklisted.
