Biography

Gilles Grangier was born on May 5, 1911 in Paris, France. He was a director and writer, known for Archimède, le clochard (1959), Train d'enfer (1965) and The Night Affair (1958). He was married to Lucie Bourdillon. He died on April 27, 1996 in Suresnes, Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France, France.

Close friend of Jean Gabin.

He preferred to make story and character-based entertainments, rather than creating the kind of 'message films' favoured by the New Wave.

Parisian director, who began as a prop boy, extra and stunt man at the Billancourt film studios.

Was a prisoner-of-war, 1939-42.
