Biography

Robert Shaw was born on September 15, 1915 in Dallas, Texas, USA. He was an actor, known for Son of the Guardsman (1946), Adam Had Four Sons (1941) and 20,000 Men a Year (1939). He was married to Mary Sue Mills. He died on January 3, 2005 in Austin, Texas, USA.

Owns one of the most unique Babe Ruth autographed baseballs in existence (on display at the legends of the game museum in Arlington, Texas).

Fell in love at first sight and married a beautiful woman from Oklahoma despite his memorable line from The Grapes of Wrath (1940): "All them Okies are hard lookin'".

During WW2, Robert "Bob" Gottschall enlisted in the army and became part of the US Signal Corp. After the war, he and his family traveled to Japan, Okinawa, and Taiwan. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel and received a 21 gun salute at his memorial service in 2005.

While Bob Gottschall was stationed in Taiwan with the US Army in the 1950s, he built a little league baseball field near what today is the Taipei American School.
