Biography

Dan Gordon was born on July 13, 1902 in Pittson, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for The Mutineers (1949), The Showdown (1950) and Jonny Quest (1964). He was married to Margaret Hannan. He died on August 13, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Animator and storyboard artist for Paramount's Famous Studios. Also did cartoon and comic book art in the 40's and 50's.

William Hanna credits the creation of The Flintstones (1960) to Dan Gordon in his autobiography.

Gordon was a notoriously heavy drinker, but it never affected is work. His excessive drinking may stem from a life of tragedies. His first son, Kevin (who worked alongside him at Hanna-Barbera) died in a house fire at his home in Malibu in 1965. His second son, Michael, also died in 1965 following a car accident in Los Angeles. Gordon's wife Margaret also died prematurely at the age of thirty-nine from brain cancer in 1946. Gordon's third child was the only one to outlive him, dying from cancer in Seattle in 1994.

According to his colleague, Jack Mendelsohn, Gordon died in a house fire while highly intoxicated, but there has been no official confirmation of this as his last known location remains unclear.
