- Alexander Goehr was born on August 10, 1932 in Berlin, Germany. He was a composer, known for BBC Play of the Month (1965), Die Bertinis (1988) and Die Geschwister Oppermann (1983). He was married to Amira Katz, Anthea Staunton and Audrey Baker. He died on August 26, 2024 in Cambridgeshire, England.

- Son of conductor Walter Goehr and mother Laelia, a classically trained pianist. He was a leading figure in progressive musical circles and became professor of music at Cambridge University in the 1970s.
