His most famous role was that of Inspector Robert Heines in the ZDF crime series "Der Kommissar" (1968 to 1975), which, together with the three other main actors, Erik Ode, Günther Schramm and Fritz or Elmar Wepper, earned him the television award "Bambi" in gold four times (1970, 1971, 1972, 1975) and once in silver (1973) in the category "Best Television Series".

In 1948 he began working as a speaker at Bavarian Broadcasting, a job he continued to do for decades.

From 1981 to 1983, Reinhard Glemnitz performed in the musical Evita in Vienna, West Berlin and Munich, where he also demonstrated his singing skills in the role of Colonel Perón.

In 1996, he played the role of Vandergelder in the musical "Hello Dolly" at the Komödie im Bayerischen Hof in Munich.
