- Greg Ginn was born on June 8, 1954 in Tucson, Arizona, USA. He is an actor and composer, known for Repo Man (1984), Boss Level (2020) and The Pelican Brief (1993).
- Black Flag's 1981 album 'Damaged' is considered a seminal work in the history of hardcore music, containing such songs as "TV Party" and "Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie."
- Founded the legendary indie label SST Records in the late seventies. Such bands as Husker Du, the Minutemen, and the Meat Puppets recorded for the label at one time.
- Founder of the legendary hardcore band Black Flag. Ginn was both the guitarist and songwriter in its early days, but later shared songwriting duties with lead singer Henry Rollins. Rollins stated in his book "Get in the Van" that Ginn told him in 1986 that he never liked Henry very much, and had decided to break up the band.
- Will reunite Black Flag on September 12, 2003 at the Hollywood Palladium to perform a benefit for organizations that rescue cats.
