Carl Gilliard Actor, Producer, Director, Writer, Educator, Entertainment Consultant

Carl Rousseau Gilliard is the dynamic President and CEO of Gilliard Media Group, LLC (GMG), located in Atlanta, Georgia. With a comprehensive suite of services including consulting, casting, media content creation, publishing, coaching, and entertainment production, GMG stands as a cornerstone of media excellence.

A passionate advocate for youth empowerment, Carl is also the Co-Creator of the Bill Duke Media Foundation's Youth Media Camp, a non-profit initiative dedicated to providing new media arts education and financial literacy training to inner-city youth, aged 15 to 18, in South Los Angeles, California.

Originally hailing from Detroit, Michigan by way of Chicago, Carl graduated from Michigan State University.

His journey into the entertainment industry began after relocating to California, where he swiftly made a name for himself as an actor, securing notable television and film roles.

His impressive film credits include titles such as Inception (Warner Bros), Red Eye (DreamWorks), Coach Carter (Paramount), the Naked Gun 2025 remake (Paramount), the independent drama Keyz, and The Queens of Christmas for BET+. On television, Carl has appeared in acclaimed series including Shameless, Grey's Anatomy, Amazon’s The Last Tycoon, Bigger, Bel-Air and FBI: Most Wanted.

He is widely recognized as Brother Minister on the hit action/drama The Family Business, currently streaming on BET+. In addition to his acting credentials, Carl is the Creator, Writer, Executive Producer, and Star of the successful digital series Two Degrees, now known as Black Famous, streaming on The BrickTV and the JaroGo App.

As an accomplished Producer and Director, Carl has received an NAACP Theater Award nomination for his theatrical contributions.

He has produced and directed works such as Section 8, Power Couple Struggle, Peace Be Still and Ain’t No Family Like The One I Got in Los Angeles, as well as The Lost Son stage play in Atlanta.

Carl also co-produced and developed the highly successful stage play The Things That Make Men Cry in Los Angeles.

He drove public transportation (CTA) in Chicago and sedan limousines in Los Angeles. He was a college classmate to Earvin 'Magic' Johnson at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan in 1977-1979.

Formerly worked for Variety Magazine as an Advertising Account Manager working with the Production Services business vertical.
