Florence was a titles artist for silent films, working for B.B. Schulberg, Charles Ray and a number of other productions of the era. She gave up her career when she married actor Eddie Le Veque and stayed at home to take care of their children. Florence was a longtime resident of North Hollywood and was also a noted artist, having a number of her paintings highlighted in local art galleries. She studied art with Manheim, Chetesu and her mother, Carrie Gilbert, who was the official artist for the state of Oregon. In 1986, Carrie's Indian paintings were still on display in Oregon. Florence also painted a dress for Peggy Hamilton, fashion editor of a Los Angeles newspaper. Years later, she discovered the dress on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, along with a card crediting her as the artist.
