Mini bio

  • Tony Giglio's career began not with a red carpet, but with a letter. As a college student, he wrote to his hero, director Sam Raimi, hoping for a chance to work in film. Raimi responded-and true to his word, hired Tony as a production assistant on The Quick & the Dead. From there, Tony immersed himself in the trenches of production, learning the art of cinema by working on Heat, The Rock, Liar Liar, Dante's Peak, and Escape from L.A.-earning his film education one set at a time.

From those humble beginnings, Tony rose to become one of Hollywood's most enduring and versatile writer-directors. His work spans action, horror, and franchise filmmaking-stories built on grit, tension, and emotional truth.

In 2026, Tony adds two new chapters to his story: Cipher, a psychological thriller he wrote and directed, starring Terrence Howard, Paula Patton, Britt Robertson, Christopher Lloyd, and Joel David Moore. Boiuna: Legend Of The Amazon, a sweeping action-adventure he scripted for Lionsgate, starring Logan Marshall-Green and Jessica Rothe.

Tony wrote and directed Universal's reboot Doom: Annihilation, helmed S.W.A.T.: Under Siege for Neal Moritz's Original Film, and directed Extraction-Sony Crackle's first original feature-starring Danny Glover and Sean Astin. His screenwriting credits include Death Race 2, Inferno, and Anarchy, making him a key voice behind one of Universal's most successful franchise expansions.

His directing work ranges from the cult horror Timber Falls to the intense action thriller Chaos, starring Jason Statham, Ryan Phillippe, and Wesley Snipes. He also wrote and directed the World War II submarine drama In Enemy Hands, starring Academy Award nominee William H. Macy, and Til Schweiger.

In every film, Tony brings the soul of a fighter and the craft of a seasoned storyteller.

A proud member of the DGA, WGA, and SAG, Tony holds a B.A. from Seton Hall University and citizenship with the U.S., Italy, and Canada. He lives and writes in Georgia, anchored by the love of his wife and daughter-the true heart of every story he tells.
