Biography

Floyd Gibbons was born on July 16, 1887 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for Trapped Underground (1938), Dear Old Dad (1938) and The Human Bomb (1939). He died on September 23, 1939 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA.

In 1941 he posthumously awarded a Gold Medal by the Marine Corps League State Commandant. This made him an honorary member of the Marine Corp. This had never been done before.

Lost his left eye as one of three wounds he received at the Battle of Belleau Wood during World War I. He was a journalist but was attempting to save a wounded U.S. Marine.

He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Radio at 1631 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
